Application & Cloud Security Engineer

Are you a software developer or DevOps engineer ready to take the next step?

To strengthen our security team, we are looking for a new colleague who can help our clients make their applications both safer and faster. This role is the perfect stepping stone for developers and DevOps engineers who want to broaden their expertise in application security, performance optimization, observability, and edge computing.

Cloud Security Engineer

What does an Application & Cloud Security Engineer at Evolane?

  • Implementing and configuring security solutions such as:
    • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
    • Bot management
    • DDoS protection
    • DNS security
    • Microsegmentation
  • Working on delivery solutions such as streaming (VOD, live) and transcoding.
  • Translating application code into performance and security improvements: understanding how an application works, identifying risks, and knowing how to mitigate them.
  • Proactively securing customer environments and collecting insights through observability, enabling us to visualize and analyze data and derive concrete improvement actions for the customer.
  • Actively contributing ideas on security-by-design in modern SecDevOps environments.
  • Contributing to our new edge strategy: deploying code at the edge of the network for, among other things, paywalls, additional application-level controls, and other smart solutions close to the end user.

Why Evolane?

  • An environment where you can grow into an Application & Cloud Security Specialist.
  • A close-knit team of security experts who support and challenge you.
  • Projects where you really have an impact on the safety, performance, and speed of applications.
  • Innovative projects where you can deploy code at the edge to make customer solutions smarter and more secure.
  • A culture that emphasizes self-organization, knowledge sharing, observability, and innovation.

 Blue team vs. Red team

In security, we often distinguish between two perspectives:

  • Blue team: defenders who protect systems, monitor, and detect attacks.
  • Red team: attackers who look for vulnerabilities and exploit them as if they were hackers.

You will strengthen our blue team. But the better you also understand the mindset of a red team, the stronger you become in defending against attacks. So with a bit of purple, you’re in a great spot too! 😉

What do we expect from you?

  • Experience in software development or DevOps, with the ambition to further deepen your expertise in security and cloud.
  • A strong interest in application security and the eagerness to grow in this field.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team, while gladly sharing your knowledge with colleagues
  • Basic knowledge of networking and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Networking, or Cybersecurity. No degree but equivalent professional experience (min. 5 years)? We’ll be equally impressed!
  • You are Dutch-speaking; good knowledge of French is a plus.

Nice-to-have:

    • Programming knowledge and proficiency in multiple languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
    • Experience with Akamai security & delivery solutions.
    • Experience with testing techniques.
